Author Amy Susan Crohn‘s recently released book, Dying to Live: Running backwards through cancer, Lupus, and chronic illness relates how neglect and abuse within her childhood became the catalyst for disease in her adulthood. Descended from a blended family, with two eccentric parents, and the legacy of being the grand neice of Dr. Burrill B. Crohn, a leading gastroenterologist whose work greatly advanced the understanding of ileitis -also known as Crohn’s disease at Mt. Sinai Hospital, Amy’s childhood was often filled with wonder and anxiety. The details of her childhood lead up to the crescendo, her body completely broken, and diagnosis of two life altering diseases at age 36. Much of the discussion surrounds the issue of how childhood maltreatment, in the form of neglect or abuse,  leading to damages in the body which can manifest themselves later in life in the form of devastating diseases and compromising immune systems. Tracey Murphy Speaks about Susan Murphy Milano and the Evidentiary Abuse Affidavit at Crime Survivors Award Event

Tracey Murphy, advocate and intimate partner violence survivor, will be speaking at the 2013 Crime Survivors Awards Banquet, sponsored by Crime Survivors, Inc. Friday, April 26, 2013 at Anaheim Marriott, 12015 Harbor Boulevard, Garden Grove, CA. The purpose of this event is to present public safety personnel from the private and public sector with awards for assisting and helping victims of crime; Bringing awareness, prevention, and survival to all of the surrounding communities while offering resources and services to victims of crime. This event is also a fund-raising opportunity for Crime Survivors, Inc. to help support our programs. All proceeds raised by this event will go directly to programs for Crime Survivors. For several years Tracey Murphy was mentored by the late Susan Murphy Milano, nationally recognized intimate partner violence expert. Murphy assisted her in the exposure of the revolutionary Evidentiary Abuse Affidavit (EAA) described in detail in Murphy Milano’s book, Time’s Up: A Guide on How to Leave an Abusive and Stalking Relationship.
