How to Work with a Publicist: What’s the Relationship Like, Are you Golden?

Every new or potential client has a myriad of questions, and we at ImaginePublicity expect no less!  As we work together towards the common goals of success, there is a process that’s learned along the way.  We like to explain that we are always a “work in progress” heading towards the same end, and willing to change direction in mid stream if a strategy isn’t working.  Mari Selby of Selbyink sums the process up very well in the following article! Although directed towards marketing for authors or books, the principles remain the same no matter if we are working with you on your business, ventures, dreams, or imaginings!  What does a publicist do? Most people who hire a publicist have no idea how to maximize their time with a publicist. They neither know what to expect from the campaign or from the relationship. When a publicist is passionate about your material you have a cheerleader on your side that will go to any length to promote your project. Initially that could be both embarrassing, and encouraging. …

The Press Release: Free or Paid and What Will It Do For Me?

All marketing and publicity companies should rely on press releases to get news to media sources. Traditional or online sources, each can be beneficial to a client’s brand building and credibility, but with the understanding that, unlike paid advertising, they are not designed to blatantly promote a product or service. A press release must be based on newsworthy facts. Write about a corporate milestone, new products and services, special events, and personnel hires and promotions. Not everything is worthy of a formal press release, and those things should be left to individual announcements through alternate means, such as private email lists, blog posts, or noting on social networking sites. With the landscape of media changing one thing remains steadfast; the driving force to get your information in front of the eyes of those who count. So, how can press releases help in accomplishing that?  Should you be paying for them, how much, and what do you get from free services. To Pay or Not To Pay Press release service fees can range anywhere from free to hundreds of dollars …

We accidentally ran across a post by Sharpie on Twitter….or, perhaps it wasn’t by accident, but by design!  You see, Sharpie was using a “promoted by” tweet which shows up at the top of the Twitter stream on Hootsuite. Of course, this drew our interest and led us to a post on their company’s blog.  An ingenious peek at the power of Sharpie! Much to the reader’s delight, the site is a colorful, a well designed space that is much more than eye catching and appeals positively to the senses.  The article was amazing; the use of Sharpies to design the Harley belonging to the president of the company, Ben Gadbois. The Sharpie blog is a compendium of posts “sharing the amazing stuff people do with Sharpies.”  Everything from Gadbois’ beloved and decorated Harley to beautiful artwork creations on paper coffee cups! The Sharpie blog consistently showcases its ads with the tagline “It Starts With Sharpie.”  Each ad features one of the creations from a myriad of talented Sharpie artists.  One of our personal favorites is …

Sometimes everything seemingly works out well, and other times it’s a struggle to get ideas and strategies off the ground.  Each client’s success depends on their happiness with the job you are doing for them, and ultimately their bottom line. The best laid plans and strategies often fall short of expectations, especially if a client is either too hands on or, on the opposite end, does not collaborate well enough.  While it’s easy to point a finger of blame, or make excuses, your marketing business depends on your ability to find solutions and each client you work for deserves nothing less. Regardless of the situation, your success depends on the level of confidence built that you will give it your best.  Whether your client constantly changes what they want, or …
