Launch of Document the Abuse Campaigns for Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Document the Abuse (documenttheabuse.com) is gearing up awareness campaigns for October  to coincide with National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Campaigns will be launched across all social media channels as well as through outreach to individuals and community organizations. Pastor Neil Schori of Naperville Christian Church in Naperville, Illinois has developed a campaign that will address the faith-based community and it’s role in assisting victims of intimate partner violence.  (safefaithcommunity.com) Schori hopes to encourage leaders to become safe havens for victims of abuse and to duplicate what he has set up in his home church. According to Schori, “Victims often have limited resources available to seek immediate and long-term help when leaving an abusive relationship, especially those considered high risk. We have established a system of counseling and referrals, along with assisting victims in preparing an Evidentiary Abuse Affidavit (EAA), which we intend to bring to other church leaders.” The EAA was developed during the high-profile disappearance of Stacy Peterson when Schori, who was Peterson’s pastor, was approached by intimate partner violence prevention activist, Susan Murphy-Milano. Neil Schori Keynote Speaker at “Take Back the Night” Event

Outspoken and passionate anti-domestic violence activist, Pastor Neil Schori, has been invited by the Will County, IL Take Back the Night event to be the keynote speaker for their October 3rd event. October is the national Domestic Violence Awareness Month and events are planned across the country to bring awareness to the pandemic of violence in the hope that it can be curtailed. Neil Schori helped create the Evidentiary Abuse Affidavit working with the late Susan Murphy-Milano.  The Evidentiary Abuse Affidavit is outlined in Murphy-Milano’s book, Time’s Up: How to Safely Leave an Abusive and Stalking Relationship. Pastor Schori has been instrumental in the establishment of Document the Abuse along with Murphy-Milano’s colleague, Sandra L. Brown, M.A. of The Institute for Relational Harm Reduction headquartered in North Carolina. Pastor Neil Schori has created a program within Naperville Christian Church which has been highly successful in assisting victims of violence with the creation of their personal safety plans, the Evidentiary Abuse Affidavit, and, if necessary, providing safe houses in emergency cases. Through Document the Abuse and it’s subsequent certified training, Schori will bring this plan to others in the faith …

A unilateral commitment from above that one can be “saved” and forgiven for any sinful acts of deviance. Does this religious safety net genuinely apply to everyone?  Redemption without exception? A  “get out of hell jail” free card waiting in the wings for all?   Even for those who commit murderous acts so vile, on-lookers turn their heads away in shame?
