    Nationwide, hundreds of thousands of rape-test kits sit in limbo because local police forces lack the resources to process them. Each kit represents a victim denied closure, and a rapist who might go unpunished. A rapist that was given the time and ability to commit more crimes before being put behind bars. Lavinia Masters Participates in Department of Justice Roundtable Addressing Backlog of Sexual Assault Kits

Lavinia Masters, Founder of S.A.V.E.(Sexual Abuse Victim Empowering) Ministry in Dallas, Texas has been invited to participate in a Roundtable Focus Group sponsored by the National Center for Victims of Crime on February 16 in Washington, D.C. The topic of discussion is the backlog of sexual assault kit processing and how the situation can improve the  across the country.  An estimated 180,000 kits completed each year whose potential evidence, which could validate a woman’s claims, identify an attacker or exonerate a suspect, loiters on shelves and in warehouses. In Lavinia Masters’ case, she waited 20 years to receive the results after being raped as a young girl, finally learning the identity of her attacker and the fact that she was not the only one he assaulted. Celebrate the “Release” for Healing in Dallas, TX

Lavinia Masters, Founder of S.A.V.E. Ministry is orchestrating their 3rd annual ” Celebrate the Release” on Saturday, December 17 from 10am to 2pm. “This year we are so excited to  be celebrating our 3rd Annual Celebrate the “Release” as we raise awareness, educate and empower survivors and others of our communities about sexual and domestic violence.” says Lavinia Masters. The event is being held in Downtown Dallas, TX  at the Dallas Public Library in the Auditorium.   There will be filming of a documentary that Lavinia Masters  will be featured in that deals with DNA Backlog and Sexual Assault Victims, as well as featuring Scott Berkowitz, founder of RAINN and the Safer ACT.  Producers say the film should be released in about a year.
