Their sister, Patricia Jackson, states they were nine and 12. We are using Patricia’s numbers. On September 23, 1990, brothers Derrick Jackson, age 9, and James Edwards, age 12,  were shot and killed by an intruder in their McKinney Street apartment in Vernon, Texas. The boys were asleep in the living room when the killer entered in the early morning hours. The assailant also shot their mother, Linda Jackson, in the head, but the bullet only grazed her. She was shot two more times as she attempted to get away, but managed to escape from the apartment. Another of Linda’s sons, 23-year-old Raymond Jackson, who was asleep in a back bedroom, exited through a window when he heard the gunshots. He was not wounded in the attack. Police reports indicate no forced entry into the home. Patricia Jackson states that Raymond has a drug history and believes he knows …
