Gayle Crabtree Speaks to Over 300 at UMW Legislative Advocacy Day

On February 21, 2012, Gayle Crabtree opened the eyes of over 300 United Methodist Women to the facts about intimate partner violence and how the faith based community can become a part of the solution.  She was invited to be the keynote speaker at the annual United Methodist Women’s Legislative Advocacy Day in  Columbia, South Carolina. A question often asked of a large group is, “Do you know the name of your community’s shelter?” Many in all audiences do not know the name of that vital resource. Through her non-profit organization, Hope for Healing.Org, Gayle has been knocking on the doors of churches within the Methodist Church Conferences, as well as other denominations, for several years and has trained hundreds of pastors and church workers through personal and group training sessions as well as teleclasses for those who can not attend the sessions in person. Gayle Crabtree Speaks to South Carolina United Methodist Women February 21

Voices United to Break the Silence Gayle Crabtree, Founder of Hope For Healing.Org, a non-profit which serves victims of sexual assault and intimate partner violence, has been invited to give the keynote address at the South Carolina United Methodist Women’s Legislative Advocacy Day Conference in Columbia, SC on February 21. Legislative Advocacy Day was created to keep the United Methodist Women informed about key issues that effect women and children. This year, the South Carolina Conference UMW is directing it’s attention towards intimate partner violence with workshops available from the SC Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse (SCCDVSA). Other workshops include ‘Going Green; care takers of God’s creation’ and ”There are strangers among us; “The Dream Act”. Speaking in the morning is Dr. Mitchell ‘Mitch’ Zais, SC Superintent of Education, who will share the Vision of Education in South Carolina and Dr. John Holler, Jr. will speak on the Changing Tides of Child Protection and Advocacy. Pastor Neil Schori and Gayle Crabtree: The Role of the Church and Clergy in Prevention of Intimate Partner Violence

Gayle Crabtree, Hope For Healing.Org Holding Teleclass: Domestic Violence Training Geared to Clergy

Gayle Crabtree, Founder, Hope For Healing. Org is  preparing  teleclass training on domestic violence geared towards clergy and church workers interested in learning, but unable to leave the office. Classes will begin April 6 at 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m for six weeks.  Included for the class will be an up to date manual and at the completion of the teleclass participants will receive a certificate for their training.  The manual contains valuable information which can be referred to later, as well as church bulletin inserts, skits and pulpit helps. For those clergy members (over 400 pastors) within the Holston Conference who took Gayle’s training in 2009, there is new, updated information available and this is the perfect time for a refresher course, or for first time attendees to learn the latest on how to effectively counsel victims of abuse and resources available to them. This course is not “911” styled or crisis training, but helps church workers minister more effectively to victims already within the congregation and will help them identify victims and their families, …
