Shattered Lives: Horry County, SC Police Chief Saundra Rhodes

SHATTERED LIVES with Donna R. Gore, “LadyJustice” Examining the effects of those who have survived violent crime and how it has impacted their lives. Real people, real tragedy, real help. Saturdays at 5pm ET Listen LIVE:  CLICK HERE   With more than 20 years in law enforcement, Saundra Rhodes was honored to accept the role of Chief of the Horry County SC Police Department in 2012. Why would this be something worth talking about in an age where women have come a long way in law enforcement positions? Saundra Rhodes humbly says she isn’t interested in making history, but more excited that she was afforded the confidence of her peers to give her the position. ImaginePublicity had the pleasure of being present at a talk which Chief Rhodes gave to a local Myrtle Beach chapter of Zonta International. Learning about her background and upbringing, it’s no wonder she developed into the strong and honorable person she is today. One of the fastest growing counties in South Carolina, Horry County encompasses the Grand Strand and Myrtle Beach, the hub …

Help AID Oklahoma Tornado Victims: Help Save the Next Life

The tragic tornado in Moore, Oklahoma on Monday, May 20, 2013 left many victims in it’s wake. There is an immediate and urgent need for donations and assistance. Because Susan Murphy Milano spent a lot of time assisting with unsolved cases in Oklahoma, ImaginePublicity and Ice Cube Press will be donating all profits from the sale of her books until June 1, 2013. Many of the families she worked with were very close to the storms that devastated Moore, Oklahoma. These families meant the world to her, often welcoming her into their homes and treating her kindly. Susan’s books address a storm of another nature, the tornado within a violent family. She was born into it, she lived it, and she survived, going on to become one of the nation’s most outspoken advocates for victims of violence. Within her books readers will learn about her personal life, the chaos of a family behind the closed doors and behind the badge and gun of a police officer father. Just as deadly, the death tolls from family …

Who Pays Attention to the Rights of Crime Victims? LadyJustice!

Like the energizer bunny, Donna R. Gore is hard to keep up with at times, nothing stands in the way of her passions and missions. Donna knows about the aftermath of crime from the inside;  her beloved father was gunned down by a career criminal who set out to rob him. He got away with $35 and Donald Gore lost his life. Donna went on to achieve many things in her life, achievements her father would have been proud to share in, but those opportunities were lost forever. 34 years later LadyJustice (Donna’s alias) learned that the person who murdered her father was coming up for parole, a day she and her family thought would bypass them when told after the trial and conviction that “this guy will never get out.”  That was not to be and the date they had to face the perpetrator loomed ahead. Not one to sit on the sidelines and allow things to happen haphazardly, Donna was proactive in finding out everything she needed to know before the date of …

The Roth Show Wednesday: The Murder of Susann Smith Followed by Monica Caison and Missing Persons

Join Dr. Laurie Roth weekdays at 7-10pm Pacific, 10pm-1am Eastern Listen LIVE or to the Archive:  http://therothshow.com Murdering Susann Smith, Hour #1 Bothell, Washington was the scene of a gruesome murder on February 12, 2013 when Susann Smith, mother of two children, was found beaten with an axe and stabbed in the bathtub of her home. Going through a divorce, and planning to take her children back to her native Germany, Smith most likely didn’t realize she was in the most dangerous time of her life, especially in light of reports of abuse within the marriage. Her estranged husband, Alan Smith, is poised to gain custody of the children and move back into the marital home.  He is named as a “person of interest,” not a suspect, but there are reports of circumstantial evidence that should keep him on the radar. Just a year prior to the murder of Susann Smith, the state of Washington was handling the news that Josh Powell, husband of still missing Susan Powell, had killed his children and himself by …

Dottie Laster Speaks to Students at The Woodlands High School

The Woodlands High School Mission Statement The Woodlands High School is dedicated to preparing its students to become lifelong learners and responsible citizens by providing a safe environment, offering challenging programs, promoting high expectations, and emphasizing student learning and development through a variety of resources. Human trafficking, and how it claims it’s victims, is one of the most critical messages our youth need to hear in order to become aware of the tactics traffickers use to lure them into dangerous situations, how they gain their trust, leading them into a world they never knew existed. Dottie Laster, CEO of Laster Global Consulting,  will bring this message to the students of The Woodlands High School on Tuesday, May 21, 2013. Dottie Laster will speak about the grooming practices of traffickers, both on the victim level as well as the community level.  While traffickers often prey upon vulnerable youth, there is an increase of young teens being lured by traffickers who are good students and come from stable family situations. The role of some traffickers is  to gain the trust of …
