April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month   Research shows that approximately “1 in 6 men have experienced unwanted or abusive sexual experiences before age 16″. Out of these numbers are men who suffer in silence, in a world that is just learning how to cope with the stigmas surrounding male survivors of sexual abuse. Would you know what to do, how to react, if a man or young male you care for confessed to being sexually assaulted or victimized? 1 in 6 is an organization that is providing resources, support and understanding for this issue. They are also shedding light on the myths that permeates society and often keeps males survivors suffering in shame and in the darkness.   Gang Life and Teenage Killings It is estimated that more than one in 100 adults in the United States is in jail or prison. On the March 8th broadcast of Lyn Twyman’s Courage Empowerment Forum, our featured guest will be Pastor Princeton Holt, writer and director of One Hour 2 Live and President of Soul of DAWN Performing Arts Troupe. One Hour 2 Live is a stage play about a gang member on death row at his last hour of life when he is visited by the spirits of the people he has killed. Courage Empowerment Forum With Lyn Twyman

On the February 22nd broadcast of Lyn Twyman’s Courage Empowerment Forum, featured guests are Lynne Russell, executive director, and John Murray of D.A.S.H (Dating Abuse Stops Here). Lynne lost her daughter Siobhan Russell, who was just 19 1/2 years old, to teen dating violence.  Lynne and John, who is Siobhan’s cousin, along with family and volunteers are carrying on her memory and helping to save lives through their organization D.A.S.H.
