Domestic Violence Awareness Month: Change Is Here, Action!

When you always do what you’ve always done, you always get the same results. Time’s up for doing things as they have been done. Time’s up for statistics to be gathered and reports to be written all the while lives are lost and children are forever changed.  Time’s up for those hired to do a job for the victims who look at it as only a job, victims of abuse need and deserve more, they need your passion! The faith based community in our country should always be looked upon as a safe haven, a place where bodies and souls can come to feel the protection of the Creator, a place where pastors have the ability to advise prudently based on the situation presented to them.  Unfortunately, this is not the case in the majority of our churches. After care of abuse victims is another area lacking in resources. Neil Schori: The Response of the Church to Domestic Violence

Neil Schori, Pastor of Naperville Christian Church, has been invited to speak to the staff of Groundwork in Joliet, IL on April 20 about the church’s role in responding to intimate partner violence. Pastor Schori has worked closely with victims of abuse through his ministry at Naperville Christian Church and has been utilizing a groundbreaking procedure, the Evidentiary Abuse Affidavit, developed through his connection with Susan Murphy Milano, Intimate Partner Violence Prevention Expert, and used within his church.  Schori will present the basics of the Evidentiary Abuse Affidavit to the staff in hopes it will be adopted and practiced within their program to assist victims. Neil Schori is instrumental in gathering other pastors, regardless of denomination, to a mission of properly responding to abuse victims, creating a safe haven within the church and faith based community where victims can find better procedures and better resources to begin a journey away from violence for themselves and their children.
