Shattered Lives: David LaBahn, Enhancing the Effectiveness of Prosecuting Crimes

Successful prosecutions are yet another step in the justice system that “that reflect a balance of punishment, compassion and concern for victims and community, including for offenders who are not citizens of the United States.” Keeping the scales of justice balanced puts prosecutors in a unique position, keeping justice in mind and not just “the win” and closure of a case. By utilizing the resources and programs offered through the Association of Prosecuting Attorneys, prosecutors can better understand their role and assist in creating safer communities free from crime. The Association of Prosecuting Attorneys (APA) was founded as a national “think tank” to represent all prosecutors and provide additional resources such as training and technical assistance in an effort to develop proactive innovative prosecutorial practices that prevent crime, ensure equal justice and make our communities safer.
