  On Friday, April 4, 2014, Dalal Akoury, MD participated in teaching about addiction at The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M) Conference in Denver, Colorado to train other doctors about her latest research in addiction treatment options through the Fellowship of Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine (FAARM).  Dr. Akoury’s protocol for treating addictions of all kinds restores the neuroendocrine imbalance in the bodies of those who suffer from addiction, and through a series of treatments, lifestyle changes, and maintenance program, most addicts can be restored to a healthy life. Participating in one of the many online and anonymous forums, message boards and blogs that discuss addiction and the ancillary medical conditions that accompany it are highly valuable tools for the addict and family members. An added bonus to the daily give-and-take of empathy, compassion and feeling that one is not alone, are the, resources, research and informational articles that members share in their postings. As we know, addiction is not a typically ‘friendly’ condition; that is it is not a popular topic. Celebrity Addiction and Death: There is a Better Way from Dr. Dalal Akoury

Another celebrity made the headlines because his death from a lethal drug overdose. 46-year-old Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in his Manhattan apartment allegedly with a needle full of heroin in his arm. This is devastating news and another in a long line of celebrities dying from a curable disease, addiction. Why are we losing some of our best to addiction? The root causes vary when examining why a person chooses to use an addictive substance, whether illegal drugs, alcohol, or prescription drugs which are readily available. It’s reported that Philip Seymour Hoffman completed a10-day substance abuse program for heroin sometime last year, an addiction he explains that he had as a young man, but had been clean for over 20 years.
