Michelle Harkey

Michelle Harkey has been working as a victim service provider since 2002 in the states of Virginia and South Carolina. Her concentration has been on domestic violence and sexual assault. She currently manages The KEY Training and Consultant Group by overseeing its development, marketing, publications, and media relations.

Harkey’s commitment to the victims’ movement stems from her experience as a domestic violence survivor while in college and witnessing abusive relationships in her adolescence. The lack of services and resources available to her during that time in her life made a lasting impression on her. This impression is what drives her to provide services to victims and education to youth about violence.

She has developed successful partnerships with faith-based groups and effective relationships with nonprofit boards and other violence prevention organizations across the nation. These partnerships have been successful in disseminating messages about youth violence to include dating violence, sexual assault and bullying.

Before her work as a victim service provider, Michelle Harkey was an intelligence analyst in the US Air Force. The training she received by the Department of Defense has allowed her to create effective threat assessments and policy and procedures for universities and schools across the nation in relation to emergency management.

She has a B.A. degree in Criminal Justice from St. Leo University in Florida and is a Consultant with The Office for Victims of Crime Training and Technical Assistance Center (OVC TTAC) and provides comprehensive training, technical assistance, and other support to assist the field in building its collective capacity to serve crime victims. Additionally, she has also completed various School Emergency Management Trainings provided by the US Department of Education.

Michelle Harkey has created InspireSelf.Org a program division of The KEY Training and Consulting Group designed to give one on one attention and support to victims of domestic violence who are in the process of reclaiming their lives. She is also a certified advocate and trainer on the Evidentiary Abuse Affidavit© in South Carolina through Document the Abuse.Com and EAA creator, Susan Murphy-Milano.
