Lee Love
Lee Love is an author, advocate and activist who speaks frankly on the subject of immigration, it’s rewards and pitfalls, and being accepted into the workplace of corporate America. Born and raised in Jamaica until the age of 11, she immigrated to the United States with the expected dreams of success, attended the University of Texas at Arlington, and spent 30 years working up the ladder from staff member to management in a large Texas corporation.
Faced with the daily wrangling, office politics, and personal prejudices in the business environment, Lee Love continued to strive, and ultimately succeeded, taking her place in the corporate world and reaping it’s rewards. An avid traveler she’s seen and appreciated the cultures of over 40 countries, experiencing the people and food as well as the beautiful scenery. Many of her travels have taken her to ports all over the world where she has expressed her passion for underwater photography.
A woman of many talents, Lee Love published her first book, Twitch, Twitch in 2011. Using her life experiences as a background, the novel’s character, Leticia, is looking for success in a large New York City company, but finds herself quickly dropped into battles in her new workplace in which she must engage on a daily basis, as well as acclimating herself to all new and divergent surroundings, she faces the unspoken prejudices of being a woman, an immigrant, and a woman of color.
As an author, Lee Love has spoken to countless audiences about the story contained in Twitch, Twitch, but she has also been interviewed and speaks out about the subtle, and not so subtle, bullies found in workplaces all across America. As an immigrant herself, Lee Love is well versed on the intricacies of assimilating into a culture which oftentimes is not warmly accepting, therefore she has first hand knowledge of it’s pitfalls and can assist others in similar circumstances.
