The world’s largest mystery writers convention, Boucheron 2015: Murder Under the Oaks, will be held this year from October 8-11 in Raleigh, North Carolina and features noted authors from around the world for its 46th year. Author Diane Fanning is scheduled to be featured  during the event and will be available to talk to fans and sign books. Bouchercon is the world’s finest annual crime fiction event, bringing together more than 1,000 authors, fans, publishers, reviewers, booksellers, editors, and every other part of the community for a fantastic four-day event. While most readers of this site are very familiar with author Diane Fanning, few know that her 90-year-old mother in law, Marilyn Fanning, is also a published author. Her latest book, Hope for the Journey: When Your Loved One Has Dementia, offers hope and encouragement for others as they take the journey backwards through a loved one’s life. Keeping a journal during her husband Bill’s years of Alzheimer’s, Marilyn has captured the essence of the daily ups and downs of the disease, as well as simple, yet very helpful words of advice for caretakers. Not only does she share the difficulties she encountered, but also the humor. Saturday, August 1 the Virginia Writers Club Annual Symposium will be held in  The Dickinson Fine & Performing Arts Center at Piedmont Virginia Community College in Charlottesville, Virginia.  From 8am to 3pm the agenda includes panel discussions, workshops, a book fair and signing. Renown Virginia author, Diane Fanning, will be a panelist for the session titled “Crime Does Pay,” along with nonfiction crime author, Dan Moldea. Fanning is the author of 23 traditionally published books. She has been honored as a nominee for the coveted Edgar Award, as well as the Defender of the Innocent Award from the Illinois Innocence Project for her part in exposing evidence which allowed a wrongful conviction to come to true justice.
