AlyBlue Media, publisher of the award-winning anthology series Grief Diaries announced the release of Victim Impact Statement. The anthology features 25 true crime stories and real impact statements read in court by loved ones searching for justice.
Donna R. Gore participated in writing Victim Impact Statement, her second book in the series following Loss by Homicide which was released in 2016.
Gore’s experience in crime victim advocacy began with the 1981 murder of her father. Her personal experience through the judicial system inspires her to reach out to others in similar situations through development of support resources, and educating the public through utilization of several media outlets.
Recognizing a need for more resources for survivors attending trials, she created a service program and offers her assistance in creating a cohesive victim impact statement tailored to the individuals and their cases. Details: Victim Impact Statement Assistance
In 2013, as a result of a surprise parole hearing for the person serving a life sentence for the murder of her father, Donna was able to facilitate a new policy for the state of Connecticut as well as read a second victim impact statement along with her family.
“An indispensable tool that helps hold the offender accountable for the consequences of a crime, the impact statement gives the judge the rest of the story, the part that doesn’t appear in police reports or courtroom evidence,” says National Center for Missing & Exploited Children’s Jay Howell, who wrote the book’s foreword.
Grief Diaries: Victim Impact Statements is available in 40,000 retail outlets around the world including Amazon and Barnes & Noble. A portion of proceeds from the sale of the book is donated to JAXImpact, a nonprofit educational awareness program. For more information, visit jaximpact.org.
