Preparing to travel across America for the first national “From the Scene of the Crime” teaching tour, Cold Case Investigative Research Institute (CCIRI) will be visiting several actual crime scenes with experts and students. One of the experts who works closely with CCIRI founder, Sheryl McCollum, Attorney Holly Hughes, joins the show to talk about the upcoming tour and give listeners information about the stops and what is expected along the way. Holly Hughes served as a Senior Assistant District Attorney with the Fulton County District Attorney’s office in Atlanta, GA where she prosecuted high-profile cases, and currently is in private practice in Atlanta. She’s a well-known fixture on HLN and CNN appearing with Nancy Grace, Don Lemon, and other news networks as a legal analyst. Hughes uses her legal expertise as a teaching tool for students involved in the ever-expanding network of volunteers at CCIRI and was an instructor at the recent CUE Center for Missing Persons national conference. In the shower. In the garden. In the gym. On the road. Anywhere, anytime, when you want it! Entertainment, information, experiences, memorable stories, education, in-depth interviews, interesting topics and people comprise the content of today’s podcasts heard around the world. With the advent of Apple’s iPod back in 2001, which touted the fact that it holds “1000 songs in your pocket,” a new form of listening was created.  The iPod evolved over the years to hold, not only music, but videos, television shows, and “podcasts.” Along with iTunes as a source for downloading broadcasts, other internet sites emerged with similar offerings and today most terrestrial radio stations have the ability to download and listen to shows at a later time. Shattered Lives: Victim Assistance Program

Shattered Lives Radio and host, Donna R. Gore, are proud to present yet another valuable resource and information for listeners. An in-depth look at victim services will be the topic of the show, relating the expansion of services for victims of crime and violence. As Executive Director of Victim Assistance Program, Leanne Graham sees herself as a leader of the “second generation mass,” carrying the tradition of those who pioneered the victims’ rights movement in the 1970’s. Coming from a family with backgrounds in various areas of the criminal justice system, Graham has been exposed to its diversity, as well as it’s needs. When she moved to the Akron, Ohio area in 2002, her first job was at the Victim Assistance Program. When children are victims of a disaster, a school shooting, or perhaps the loss of a classmate or someone close to them, we, as parents, teachers, or mental health professionals need to know how best to assist their grieving process.
