Wednesday segment welcomes Anny Jacoby
Domestic Violence: Has Anything Changed?
October is traditionally deemed Domestic Violence Awareness Month for the purpose of gaining public support for the issue of family violence and seeking solutions to minimize the effects. Anny Jacoby’s background includes advocacy for women who have been mentally, physically and financially abused and assisting them with their personal safety planning.
Anny Jacoby is a Community Partner with Document The Abuse, a group who is dedicated to using cutting edge resources to help victims of abuse safely leave a violent relationship by creating their individualized safety plan using the Evidentiary Abuse Affidavit developed by the late Susan Murphy Milano. It’s been found that victims who are properly assessed and create the EAA as part of their plan stand a much better chance of escaping safely.
Despite the enactment of legislation, funding, and efforts to educate, we have seen an increase in deaths related to domestic violence, oftentimes wiping out complete families. Document The Abuse and it’s providers have seen that by using a simple tool victims are more empowered, confident and able to carry through with their escape plans in an organized fashion.
Preparation for safety is key to saving the lives of victims across the country. Anny Jacoby approaches personal safety at every level, especially teaching females of all ages self-defense techniques, along with educating them on the dangerous red flags to help them become more aware of situations they sometimes take for granted.
Anny Jacoby is the Owner/President of Jacoby & Associates, Consulting and Training. Through the divisions of The Realistic Female Self-Defense Company and Project Safe Girls, she passionately campaigns for every female to have the absolute right to protect and defend herself from mentally to ultimately physical if needed.
Anny is also a Child Abuse Authorized Facilitator and Prevention Specialist who trains adults to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse through Darkness to Light’s Stewards of Children certification program. Anny travels throughout the US bringing this important and vital information to all communities.
