Veering away from the usual crime victim Shattered Lives fare, host Donna R. Gore treats the audience to an enlightening interview with Mark C. Potts, history buff and solver of history’s mysteries!

From the mysteries of Atlantis, the Zodiac Killer, and Roswell, NM alien landing to Jack the Ripper, Mark Potts has worked on piecing the puzzles together and coming up with evidence based solutions to age old questions.

With a passion for history, Mark Potts, a Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission employee by day, spends his nights and weekends digging into unsolved cases and sharpening his skills as an armchair detective.

Using various resources, both online and in person, he’s been able to scour old directories, maps and news articles to find the misplaced clues that form his theories.

Jack the Ripper

The most controversial and infamous case he’s pored his skills into is Jack the Ripper, believing , based on the evidence he’s uncovered, that he is notorious American serial killer, Herman Webster Mudgett, aka Dr. H. H. Holmes. Holmes is the subject of BLOODSTAINS written by Holmes decendant and a former Shattered Lives guest, Jeff Mudgett.

Comparing photographs, handwriting, and putting together the whereabouts of Holmes at the time of the Ripper murders, both Potts and Mudgett feel certain that the similarities warrant serious investigation. From around the world “Ripperologists” argue their theories about the true identity of London killer, Jack the Ripper, with intensity, but there is still not a theory that everyone is in agreement with.  Even famed author, Patricia Cornwell, wrote about her own theory in her book, Portrait of a Killer: Jack the Ripper Case Closed.
