One Soul Tithes So Another Soul Thrives
Non-Profit and the Arts, Sam Bass Community Theatre is a Winner!
The magic of the theatre is like no other, when the lights go on and the curtain goes up individuals transport the audience into a new dimension, the escape from their own lives into the lives of the actors on the stage. Unlike television and film performances, the theater is live acting, mistakes and all, and the show must go on!
The Sam Bass Community Theatre in Round Rock, Texas has been presenting their magic for over 35 years, a non-profit run strictly by volunteers, offering not only quality entertainment to the community, but many theatre education programs, many geared towards youth.
The special guest for the show, Veronica Prior, has been involved in the theatre for quite some time, not only as a versatile actor, going from drama to comedy, but she also serves as the theatre’s head seamstress. Veronica designs and sews the costumes for productions using her immense talent. The productions can range from a play set in the 18th century with actresses in complex gowns, to the simplicity of a costume set in the 1950’s with less intricacy involved in the design.
The reality of creating magic on stage is that it takes many volunteers behind the scenes to bring success to the production. The Sam Bass Community Theatre accepts donations of time and money, as well as the “little things” that keep it going.
Community theatre enriches the lives of those who take an active part in it, as well as those in the community who benefit from live theatre productions. On either side of the footlights, those involved represent a diversity of age, culture, life experience, and a strong appreciation of the importance of the arts.
Community theatre is a lot of hard work, but it also instills the camaraderie of those involved, working as a fine oiled team to bring a quality production on opening night. Those who volunteer in any capacity enhance the success and reap the personal reward of being a part of something outside of themselves.
