One Soul Tithes So Another Soul Thrives
We all know the popular saying “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Whether we want to admit it or not, we all hold a gift of soulful tithing in one capacity or another. Through money or time given voluntarily we feel good about “paying it forward” to either those less fortunate, or those with a specific need.
The first show of the series featuring the winners of the non-profit contest will focus on the Dinella Foundation of Chicago whose mission is to provide prosthetics which are more realistic in look, color and feel than anything available.
The guest for the show will be Founder Michelle Giunti who knows all about the search for a prosthetic, and the fact that they are unattainable by those without means.
From the Dinella Foundation website:
Dinella Foundation creator Michelle Giunti understands what it’s like to go through life calling unwanted attention to a disability. Michelle was born missing her right forearm, and endured either a hook prosthetics or department store mannequin-like hand and arm. For many years, she searched for a prosthetic arm that looked more lifelike. In her late teens, Michelle discovered prosthetic artisan Camille Rea at the University of Illinois Chicago. The price tag for her new arm? $10,000. And Michelle didn’t have it.
Three days later, completely out of character for Michelle, she reluctantly went on a gambling boat. Despite her unwillingness to gamble, Michelle won $10,000 playing slots. A casino industry insider estimates the odds of this to be around one-in-a-million. She beat the odds and was able to afford her life-like prosthetic which changed her life forever.
Michelle believes everyone is entitled to realistic-looking prosthetics. It was through this experience she recognized few people could afford natural-looking prosthetics. She felt that emotional tug to help others gain access to these beautiful prosthetics… eyes, ears, noses, hands, arms and legs that would help people fit in more comfortably socially.
The Dinella Foundation‘s outlook is that everyone with such a disability should be entitled to the same opportunities that a natural looking prosthetic affords to live life fully without embarrassment or questions. Michelle is uncompromising in her mission to ensure other candidates get the same level of excellence and care in their new prosthetics. They keep their finger on the pulse of the latest in technology and design to assure the standards of quality are there to meet the needs of each candidate.
The website has a source of support resources available all across the country addressing specific needs of amputees or those born with congenital issues, as well as a place to sign up as a potential candidate or to make a donation for the well-being of others.
