Raymond Bechard makes his second appearance on Shattered Lives!
Social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter are the new backyard fence where people meet to share their news, gossip and conversations. Unlike meeting in open spaces in neighborhoods, we often don’t know who is behind an online profile and what their true intentions are.
According to Raymond Bechard, Executive Director of the Political Action Committee, Men Against Prostitution And Trafficking (MENAPAT):
For the first time in history, pedophiles can meet anonymously from around the world to trade illicit images and videos of children . The websites have no idea how to prevent it and are reluctant to even address the issues because that would mean acknowledging the problem.

Bechard is the author of The Berlin Turnpike: A True Story of Human Trafficking in America and has worked globally to help expose those who perpetrate one of the fastest growing crimes around the world. 
Having worked in the area of human rights for over two decades, The Berlin Turnpike is Raymond Bechard s second book on the topic of human trafficking. His first, Unspeakable: The Hidden Truth Behind the World s Fastest Growing Crime, is an expose of child trafficking in all its forms around the world. He is concerned that State Human Trafficking laws are not being enforced because they are new and few State Prosecutors wish to take the risk of tying a new type of case and often turn them over to Federal Prosecutors, which either won’t take the cases or reduce charges.
“Riding The Turnpike,” is the Heartbeat Ensemble’s new play inspired by the book, “The Berlin Turnpike: A True Story of Human Trafficking in America,” by Raymond Bechard. This is a one way journey with not exit. “Riding The Turnpike” is the experience of the broken men and women who buy and sell each other for whatever they can get.
