Dottie Laster Appearing at University of Texas, San Antonio for Women’s History Month

One of the major events on the campus of the University of Texas San Antonio (UTSA) each year is March Women’s History Month and 2013 is no exception. The month long series of events and lectures will feature “TRAFFICKED” led by Dottie Laster, CEO of Laster Global Inc. and UTSA Alumni on Friday, March 22 at 2pm in the Harris Room, UC2.212.
Dottie Laster will present on the issue of human trafficking in the United States and will discuss current statistics and the industries in which these individuals of modern day slavery are subjected.
An advocate for awareness of human trafficking, she will answer questions regarding the theory of intersectionality, social phenomena, gender inequality, class opportunity, global situation, and youth exploitation. ….(UTSA complete schedule of events.)

Dottie Laster is a nationally recognized expert in the field of human trafficking. She has been trained by the Department of Justice to train law enforcement on human trafficking. She has been the architect and leader of human trafficking task forces and coalitions in many cities in Texas and California. In her career she has been directly and indirectly responsible for the rescue and service of over 200 victims of trafficking in the United States. She is credentialed to practice immigration law through the Bernado Kohler Center.

Dottie Laster has recently been featured in MORE Magazine, Texas Monthly, PI Magazine and the documentary, The Cantinera. She has also appeared on several local and national television news programs and numerous radio shows to bring a voice to the victims of human trafficking, and will soon unveil plans for an upcoming series.
