Anna Doroghazi, CONNSACS
Connecticut Sexual Assault Crisis Services, Inc. (CONNSACS) is a statewide coalition of individual sexual assault crisis programs. CONNSACS works to end sexual violence through victim assistance, community education, and public policy advocacy. CONNSACS’ mission is to end sexual violence and ensure high quality, comprehensive, and culturally competent sexual assault victim services.
The SAFE Program provides care in a way that benefits both sexual assault victims and participating hospitals. Typically, victims wait in emergency departments for several hours before a physician or nurse becomes available to set aside several hours to provide care for the patient and complete the evidence collection process. In many cases, healthcare providers are not very familiar with the process which may lengthen the time that the victim remains in the emergency department.
CONNSACS offers presentations and trainings for statewide organizations and agencies.
Talking about sexual violence is important. Everyone can have a role in preventing sexual violence and ensuring support for victims. Do you have an interest in learning more about ending sexual violence and responding to disclosures of sexual violence? We welcome the opportunity to hold an in-service, workshop or training.
Lavinia Masters, Founder S.A.V.E. Ministry
S.A.V.E. Ministry is geared towards empowering victims of sexual abuse/assault, rape, incest, molestation and relationship violence through the Word of God, prayer, mentoring, counseling referrals, organized support groups, meetings, conferences, retreats and campaigns. We also partner with the community non-profit or charitable organizations that also raise awareness and education against sexual and relationship violence and further promote a society free from sexual/relationship violence. After years of struggle and trauma after sexual assault, Lavinia discovered and implemented seven steps to her true empowerment after rape through prayer and supplications.
Lavinia has been instrumental in passing legislation, was a guest of Inqaba Biotec, a leading South African genome company and its executive director, Dr. Oliver Preisig, for a week of engagements in South Africa, and has appeared on CNN and other major news outlets. She is also the author of Breathe Again.
Lavinia Masters is a champion of DNA research and the use of its forensic development in the area of identifying perpetrators of sexual abuse. Her own experience of being assaulted as a thirteen year old, and put on hold for 20 years before the identity of her attacker was known because of the backlog of testing, qualifies her to speak to the issues surrounding the necessity for prompt DNA results.
