Another way for authors to connect with readers in the digital age.
Although not quite as personal as physically shaking hands or listening to a reading, e-book owners can still have a personalized message from the author in their e-book with Kindlegraph.
The technology is straightforward enough — readers sign in using Twitter, and select the book which they would like ‘signed’ (authors, or their publishers, have to opt in to have their books featured). The request is then forwarded to the author who — using Docusign‘s API — can write a short message and digitally sign it. Not only is Kindlegraph a way for readers to experience something personal from the author of their favorite book, but it gives those readers who may not be able to attend an author event or book signing an opportunity to make that digital connection.
Authors are able to add the service as another tool in their marketing tool box and find personal exposure to readers who may otherwise not have the chance to receive a signed message. It’s also a great service to offer for virtual book signings where author and reader can meet virtually through Google Hangouts, Skype or any of the video based services.
Yes, change is sometimes difficult to accept, but, as we all now know, ebooks are here to stay and gaining ground daily through all sources. It’s unrealistic to think an author can personally plan signing events in all venues, but Kindlegraph gives them an alternative to reach readers around the globe in a more personalized way.
