Jared Hillman, a 23-year-old Army Reservist had only been home
three weeks following a deployment to Iraq when he was found dead on August 9, 2009, of an apparently self-inflected gunshot wound. However, a $400,000 life insurance policy of which Jared’s estranged wife was beneficiary, and cell phone records that show the wife placed a nearly five minute call to Jared’s cell phone some three hours after he had allegedly killed himself, raised questions about the suicide ruling. Joining us to discuss the case will be Jared’s aunt, Kim Busbea, and Jerry Mitchell, investigative reporter with The Clarion-Ledger.
