Dawn Schiller was fifteen years old in 1976, when she met thirty-two-year-old porn star John Holmes. Holmes courted Dawn, had sex with her, and manipulated her with drugs and alcohol. Holmes physically and emotionally abused Dawn for several years.
After the famed Wonderland murders in 1981, they fled to Florida, where she ultimately broke free and turned him over to the police.
Since spending almost 6 years in the process of writing her book, Dawn has formed a new non profit to help mentor “throwaway teens,” E.S.T.E.A.M. which will reach into the communities to show these teens a way off the streets and get them on track for successes in their lives.
Schiller received the Courage Award by the President’s Commission on the Status of Women for her courage and vision in working for a world without violence against women and girls. “Dawn is a strong ‘voice for justice’ and we’re so honored she will take an hour in her tour to stop by and help empower our listeners to be the best they can be too,” said Michelle Bart, host of “Voices for Justice” on BTR.
Dawn speaks out on “Voices for Justice” on October 27thalong with Dr. Dale Archer and missing woman Jessie Foster’s mother, Glendene Grant, who believes her daughter was trafficking in America.
