  • Listen LIVE: http://therothshow.com Join Dr. Laurie Roth and Susan Murphy Milano each Wednesday from 7-8ET   The Long Island Serial Killer case is gripping the headlines and theories abound nationwide.  Of the ten bodies or sets of remains found along Gilgo Beach since late 2010, the four discovered in December 2010 have been identified as missing prostitutes who all advertised their services on Craigslist. Each had been strangled and their bodies wrapped in burlap bags. According to the medical examiner, all are believed to have been killed in another location and then taken to Long Island where they were buried. Department of Justice-certified human-trafficking consultant Dottie Laster is not so sure that a sexually motivated serial killer is behind the murders. She worries that officials may be misidentifying the handiwork of sex traffickers. Laster, who has trained more than 5,000 police officers on recognizing and combating trafficking, was hired as part of a team to assist the Waterman family in locating their daughter, Megan, whose body was found in the marsh in December. She has since starting working with the family of Shannan Gilbert, whose disappearance in Long Island last May is believed to be connected with the murders. According to Laster, Gilbert and Waterman have the characteristics of trafficking victims–those who are forced or scammed into the service of another for labor or commercial sex. If they were, it could offer another explanation for the murders: Traffickers operate through threats of violence and even murder, which they may follow through on to set an example, especially when victims try to get away.....Ms.Magazine, April, 2011 Dottie Laster is a nationally recognized expert, consultant and trainer, on all aspects of human trafficking. Also weighing in on the discussion is Dr. Scott Bonn, PhD, serial killer expert, media analyst and author. Based on my professional experience, I believe that the Long Island serial killer is intelligent, middle-aged, a perfectionist and disarming, perhaps even charming. He is coldly psychopathic and he is evolving—that is, transitioning from a highly meticulous “organized” killer into a more risk-taking “disorganized” killer in terms of his homicidal behavior and practices.  Moreover, this serial killer may be transient and perhaps a seasonal (summer) visitor to the South Shore beaches of Long Island. I suggest this because all of the prostitute victims identified were reported missing between Memorial Day and Labor Day. This is not really surprising. Two of the characteristics of organized, psychopathic serial killers are repetitious, compulsive or cyclical behavior and the ability to blend back into their seemingly normal lives between killings......Forbes, Dec. 2011 Dr. Scott Bonn is a criminologist and professor at Drew University in New Jersey. He is a noted expert in the patterns and causes of crime and deviance with particular focus on serial killers.
  • The Susan Murphy Milano Show, “Time’s Up!” Thursdays at 2pm ET Listen LIVE at: Here Women Talk Linda Franklin, The REAL Cougar Woman Linda Franklin started to help other women and also reap the benefits of hearing their stories.  She was starting to experience all the changes that a woman approaching 50 goes through.  Linda calls it her “tsunami of change”.  She did lots of research and when she felt reconnected to her own power she began to share the information with other women.  We may think we are separate but all women share so many of the same experiences.  Talking about our lives is the best therapy.  Knowing you are not hanging out on a limb all by yourself does wonders. Linda’s 5-Carat approach to living a full and vibrant life works.  A woman who understands the importance of her health, beauty, finances, relationships and spiritual beliefs will shine.  You need all 5 carats to work together because when one is ignored the others will suffer. The Real Cougar Woman® Blog is a great resource for women of all ages.  Our 5-Carat content is geared to what women need and what they want. The mission of The Real Cougar Woman® is to re-connect women to their power. Too often women lose sight of their precious dreams because of the demands that life puts on them. Too often women are conditioned by old fashioned role models that put them last on the priority list. We want to refocus those priorities so they can soar to new heights. The Real Cougar Woman® is a fabulous female who is not afraid to explore the outer limits of who she really is. She is not afraid to try new things, and even if she is, does it anyway. Above allThe Real Cougar Woman® takes responsibility for her own happiness weighing carefully what’s working and what’s not in her life. She has learned to embrace change because she knows it’s not about what happens to her – it’s all about her attitude about those changes. Shining Service Worldwide™ November 2010. She says, “it was destiny” The whole idea started to germinate when women serving in Afghanistan emailed her saying that they read The Real Cougar Woman™ blog every day and how powerful they felt when they did. They called themselves “The Combat Cougars” and they just wanted to say thank you for the valuable information she was providing them. From that fateful day to this Linda has been committed helping all women connected to military service. Their sacrifices are many and appreciation shows has been limited. Like many women, they have fallen through the cracks. Every time Linda talks to these fabulous women, the warmth and love they show is beyond anything she could ever imagine. Their stories, their courage and their dedication is beyond anything she has ever been a part of. When Linda met the women at United Veterans Beacon House, who were homeless vets, she couldn’t understand how that could happen. Frank Amalfitano, President and CEO of Beacon House shared his knowledge and experience with her and then invited her to become a special project under the Beacon House not-for-profit umbrella. It’s a solid partnership with a common goal. This is the beginning of a long journey. Linda is dedicated to this cause and is constantly amazed by the big hearts who want to help her in her mission to help.
